AUGMENTEES

x

During the Vietnam War years, the major Air Force bases within Vietnam and Thailand were manned by USAF Air/Security Police. As the war approached its second decade, reduction in forces began to occur and it was essential for security forces to call upon other squadrons to provide personnel to man the perimeter, towers, and bunkers for base security. Before long, the names of Augmentees joined the ever growing list of Security forces KIA/LOD, and now are carved in stone on The Wall of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Washington, D.C.

Augmentees' contributions to the protection of USAF high-value assets and personnel were vital to the mission, and contributed the Air Force Security legacy passed on to those who follow the path once blazed by men known as Air Police and Security Police:

The Legacy: No Air Base Guarded by USAF AP/SP/SF Squadrons has ever been overran or conquered by an enemy!

The  Vietnam Security Police Association, Inc. (USAF) is an association of USAF Vietnam War veterans who served in Vietnam or Thailand between July 1, 1958 and May 15, 1975, as Air / Security Police (Permanent Change of Station, TDY, or as an Augmentee).
