Regarding the Quad 50's for the 377th SPS, they were given to the 377th SPS by the Army, approximately two months after TET 1968. We also acquired the use of Four-Wheeled APC's, small mortars, and single-mounted 50 cal's. This was all brought on by the fact that Tan Son Nhut Air Base's perimeter was penetrated by NVA and VC during the TET offensive, and our commanders went to higher authority to acquire heavier weapons for our unit -- TET was not going to be repeated again at TSN. The trucks and weapons were not loaned, but given to the 377th SPS, and we the squadron on to the weapons for many years after my departure. Larry Blades

We were out practicing that day, fired the mortars, law rockets, and the 40mm
grenade launcher, the XM-148, and we even had a few thumpers.
