1) Pleiku Air Base: 822nd CSPS Jeep. A1C Larry Sutherland
with .50 CAL,
August 1968. Aircraft bone yard can be seen in the background: Shot up,
blown-up, cracked-up and otherwise used-up aircraft.
2) Pleiku: C-47 on short-final approach for landing.
3) Pleiku: 822nd CSPS Jeep concealed at Runway's approach
as "Spooky", a C-47, is on
short-final for landing. Duty included deterrence of
sniper fire at aircraft during short-final
approach. Larry Sutherland on the .50 CAL (he put his
glasses on this time, heh-heh).

Airmen are all Safeside troops. Photo was taken at Pleiku
AB
on the backside behind Peacock, over by the 71st MedEvac
area.
5) 822nd CSPS, A1C Sanders' weapon is a 90mm Recoilless
Rifle. When firing
anti-personnel rounds (steel darts) the affects of this
weapon are devastating.
6) 822nd CSPS, Sgt Henson, armed with an M-79 grenade
launcher.
7) 822nd CSPS, Sgt Winks, armed with an M-16
. . remember taping two clips together?
8) 822nd CSPS, A1C Sutherland, armed with an M-60 machine
gun.
