Bulletin Board Comment: Walt Myers Nha Trang 69-70 , Don't get into the website much. Just saw the photos from Tower 320 in Nha Trang posted by Jim Costello. That brings back memories. Spent many nights in that tower doing everything I could think of to stay awake until the sun came up. C-rations, transistor radio, splashed water in my face from the canteens, etc. etc. etc. Unlike most of our towers it had a field telephone with a direct line to CSC and it had a grid map you could use to pinpoint coordinates where incoming rounds were coming from (unfortunately, the elements washed the map out so badly it was useless). The P.O.L. tower wasn't far from 320 and my PV started a fire in that tower to warm his c-rations one night. Not a good thing for either of us.

These two photos (above and below) were taken on time exposure, and as you can see the years have not been good to them. Perhaps you can work your magic so they look better for the guys on the site. That's if you can use them. They were taken at Nha Trang AB in 1970, from Tower-320, that looked toward the main gate (to the right in the lights), the South China Sea, and Hon Tre Island in the distance. Two of them were taken as a new day was dawning. Sure am enjoying the photos of the other bases the guys have sent in. Thanks for doing this project. Your work never ceases to amaze me.

I took this photo in the fall of 1969 at Nha Trang AB. It is a shot of an old French
Bunker located at the beach-end of our runway. The bunker was used by the QC
Security Force that worked with the 14th SPS at Nha Trang.
