* A2C George Bevich, Jr. was the first Air Force Dog Handler to die in Viet Nam. 

** Three handlers (total of eighteen Security Police personnel KIA) were on the CH-53 helicopter that crashed during the Mayaguez rescue attempt. This was  considered the  last combat  action of the Viet Nam war.

Bob Gray Memorial  

Sra Robert Gray was killed at Clark Air Base, Republic of the Philippines on January 6, 1978. Bob attempted to apprehend several Filipino intruders on base. Bob was stabbed to death after releasing his explosive detector dog Casey on a Filipino intruder. Casey was shot with Bob's revolver but recovered and returned to duty.

** Tech Sergeant Norton was killed when his Humvee was hit by an IED. The two men were deployed from the same base in Alaska. He was assigned to the 586th Expeditionary Mission Support Group in Iraq. TSgt Norton was the trainer at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska, but the tasking came down for a Tech Sgt in Iraq to pull convoys so he was deployed without a dog.
