Photo Courtesy of Richard Deggans Camp Wolfgang is a nonprofit rescue shelter. It is a combination infirmary, orphanage, and adoption agency for homeless and abandoned German Shepherds. Located near Ennis, Texas (South of Dallas, Texas, on IH-45), it is a true labor of love. The facilities and the level of care received rivals that given out by military kennels. Some time ago, a few ex-handlers living in the Dallas area started visiting Camp Wolfgang to exercise and groom the dogs. Soon other handlers were joining in on the fun. There are plenty of dogs to play with. If you are ever in the Dallas area, call & stop in. You may like one so much that it follows you home... On Sept 6, 2003, the gracious staff of Camp Wolfgang hosted a reunion for Texas dog handlers who were former Army & Air Force dog handlers (VSPA and/or VDHA members). We played with the pups, met old friends, made new friends, and had a great barbeque. You could not have asked for a better day. It was great to have a dog and a grooming brush again in hand. The metal and stone dog memorials are good, but Camp Wolfgang is a living memorial for all German Shepherd dogs. It deserves any support we can give it. Reunion for Texas Dog Handlers
